How and where we work
We have offices in four locations across Canada:
- Ottawa
- Toronto
- Montreal
- Vancouver
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, our employees have been mostly working from home. We’re now operating with a hybrid model, where employees work both at home and in the office.
Comparing OSFI to other public sector or private sector employers
We’re part of the Government of Canada. As such, our employees are members of the public service and have a collective agreement with the government through the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada union.
By joining OSFI, you’ll enjoy generous work conditions that make us different from the public sector or private sector.
If you’re coming from another government department
- Our groups and levels differ from other departments (RE and REX)
- We’re public service employees, just like employees at core federal government departments
- You can move to OSFI and back to other federal government departments without a break in public service employment
- Moving to OSFI won’t affect your federal public service pension or other benefits
- All employees can earn performance-based pay increases or bonuses
If you’re coming from a private sector organization
- When you join OSFI, you join the Canadian federal public service
- As a public service employee, you’ll have rules of conduct and impartiality to follow
- We’re focused on serving Canadians and the Canadian financial industry, rather than profit margins
- Our work needs to be transparent to Canadians and the banks and other organizations that we regulate
