Reminder: DC Targeted Review

In December 2018, OSFI initiated a targeted review of all pension plans it regulates with defined contribution (DC) provisions. The purpose of this review is to enhance our risk-based approach to the supervision of DC pension plans by requesting specific information on the plan fees, the default investment option and the number and type of investment options offered to members. Once we have analysed the information received, we may adjust our supervisory procedures or update external guidance, based on the risks identified. We intend to share the main results of our review in a forthcoming InfoPensions article.

The targeted review was communicated via an email to all the DC pension plan administrators which OSFI regulates. It included a questionnaire and a guide to completing the questionnaire. 

Responses were due February 28, 2019.  To allow plan administrators the additional time required to complete and submit the questionnaire, we have decided to extend the deadline to March 15, 2019.
